I filed a motion to suppress the evidence because my client had been illegally detained as the purpose of the original traffic stop had passed. Therefore, the subsequent consent was invalid because it was obtained through an illegal detention. The judge granted the motion and my client kept his license and avoided being labeled a felon for the rest of his life.
